Yes — underlay is essential when installing over tiles. It cushions the floor, fills minor surface imperfections in the tiles, reduces noise, and prevents the hybrid from flexing over grout lines. Our 9.5mm range has built-in underlay, but an additional thin underlay can benefit installations over tiles with deep grout lines. For the 6.5mm range, always use a separate underlay.

Not if the grout lines are shallow (under 2mm) and you use quality underlay. The underlay bridges the grout lines and provides a smooth, consistent surface for the hybrid to sit on. With deep grout lines (over 2mm), fill them with flexible grout or levelling compound before laying underlay to prevent the hybrid from flexing at those points.

Installing hybrid over tiles typically costs just the hybrid flooring and underlay — from . Removing tiles first adds for professional demolition, for tip fees and cleanup, and potentially for subfloor repair if the slab is damaged during removal. For a 50m² area, you save approximately by overlaying instead of removing.

Yes — SPC hybrid is compatible with underfloor heating systems, including those already installed beneath tiles. The maximum surface temperature should not exceed 28°C. If your underfloor heating runs beneath tiles and you install hybrid over the top, the heating will still work effectively, though response time may be slightly slower due to the additional layers between the heating element and the room.

Our SPC hybrid range is designed for indoor use only. Outdoor tiles are exposed to direct UV, extreme temperature swings, and weather — conditions that exceed the product's design parameters. The warranty covers manufacturing faults including peeling, delamination, excessive wear, discolouration not caused by UV exposure, and structural defects in the click-lock system.
