9.5mm Hybrid Flooring.

Our 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring delivers a thicker, more premium feel with wider 228mm planks at 1820mm long. The extra thickness means better acoustic insulation, more stability underfoot and a closer match to the look and feel of real timber flooring.

Each board includes a 2mm IXPE underlay pre-attached to the waterproof SPC core. That means no separate underlay, faster installation and superior comfort. Click lock joining makes these boards easy to install as a floating floor over most existing surfaces. Available in Australian hardwood looks and European oak tones.

Your Questions About 9.5mm Hybrid Flooring.

Answers to the most common questions about our 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring range — including the herringbone option. Contact us for anything else.

Does the 9.5mm range include underlay?

Yes. Every 9.5mm hybrid plank has built-in IXPE acoustic underlay bonded to the bottom. You do not need to purchase or install separate underlay. This saves time and money, and ensures consistent acoustic performance across the entire floor.

Do not add a second layer of underlay underneath — too much cushion can stress the click-lock joints and compromise the floor’s stability.

Can I use 9.5mm hybrid in an apartment?

Yes — the 9.5mm range with built-in IXPE underlay is rated for multi-storey residential use and meets most body corporate acoustic requirements for upper-level installations.

We recommend checking your specific body corporate by-laws before purchasing. We can provide acoustic rating documentation on request — just contact our team.

What colours are available in the 9.5mm range?

Our 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring comes in 5 curated colours:

  • Snow Grey — cool, contemporary neutral
  • Natural Blackbutt — warm Australian timber tone
  • Pacific Spotted Gum — classic spotted gum character
  • Natural Spotted Gum — rich, natural variation
  • French Oak — sophisticated European-style grain

All 5 colours are available in both standard plank and herringbone layouts. Order free samples to compare in your space.

How does 9.5mm hybrid compare to engineered timber?

  • Water resistance: Hybrid is 100% waterproof; engineered timber is not
  • Maintenance: Hybrid needs none; engineered timber needs periodic recoating
  • Surface: Hybrid uses a printed vinyl layer; engineered timber has real hardwood
  • Refinishing: Hybrid cannot be sanded; engineered timber can be sanded 2–3 times

Choose hybrid for value, waterproof performance, and low maintenance. Choose engineered timber for authentic natural timber character and the ability to refinish over decades.

Is 9.5mm hybrid flooring suitable for commercial use?

Yes. The 9.5mm SPC hybrid is suitable for light commercial applications including offices, retail spaces, and hospitality venues. The thicker core and enhanced wear layer handle heavier foot traffic than the 6.5mm range.

For commercial installations, professional glue-down or loose-lay methods may be recommended depending on the space. Contact our team for commercial project advice.

What warranty does the 9.5mm range carry?

Our 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring carries a 25-year residential warranty — 5 years more than the 6.5mm range. This covers manufacturing and structural defects when the floor is installed and maintained according to our guidelines.

The warranty applies to all 5 colours in both standard plank and herringbone layouts. Keep your invoice as proof of purchase.

Can I mix standard and herringbone planks?

The standard plank and herringbone versions are different products with different plank sizes, so they can’t be clicked together. However, you can use transition strips to join a herringbone feature area to a standard plank area in the same colour — for example, herringbone in the entry hall transitioning to standard planks in the living room. Transition strips are available in our accessories collection.

Key advantages over the 6.5mm range:

  • Built-in IXPE underlay — no separate underlay to purchase or install, acoustic rated for apartments

  • Enhanced wear layer — higher scratch and abrasion resistance for busy households
  • 25-year warranty — 5 years more than the 6.5mm range

When comparing 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring to alternatives like engineered timber, solid hardwood, or tiles, the value equation becomes clear. Thicker hybrid flooring sits in a sweet spot — significantly more affordable than solid hardwood or premium engineered timber, while delivering superior waterproof performance and easier installation. The built-in IXPE underlay eliminates the separate underlay cost that thinner hybrid products require, and the DIY-friendly click-lock system means most homeowners can avoid professional installation fees entirely. Factor in the 20+ year lifespan with virtually zero maintenance costs, and the total cost of ownership is among the lowest of any premium flooring option available in Australia.

9.5mm hybrid installation tips.

Get the best result from your 9.5mm SPC hybrid flooring with these three essentials.

1

Don't add extra underlay

The 9.5mm range has built-in IXPE underlay. Adding a second layer of underlay creates too much cushion, which can stress the click-lock joints and cause lipping or movement. Just lay the planks directly on a clean, level subfloor.

2

Plan your herringbone layout

If you’re installing herringbone, find the centre line of the room first and work outwards. A crooked herringbone pattern is obvious and hard to fix. Take the time to set out accurately before locking in your first row.

3

Use transition strips between rooms

Install transition strips at doorways and between rooms to allow independent expansion zones. Without them, a large continuous floor area can build up pressure and cause buckling. Transitions are available in matching colours from our accessories range.

Why upgrade to 9.5mm?

The 9.5mm SPC hybrid delivers meaningful upgrades over thinner alternatives that justify the step up. The built-in IXPE underlay eliminates a separate purchase and installation step. The thicker 7.5mm stone composite core provides noticeably better sound insulation — particularly important in apartments and multi-storey homes where impact noise travels between floors. The extra-wide plank format (1820mm x 228mm) creates a more premium, open look with fewer joins across the floor. For main living areas, open-plan spaces, and anywhere you want that solid, high-end feel underfoot, the 9.5mm is the better long-term choice.

The 9.5mm makes most sense for:

  • Main living areas & open-plan spaces — the thicker core and built-in underlay deliver a more premium feel underfoot

  • Bedrooms and guest rooms
  • Budget renovations where every dollar counts
