Grey Iron Bark is a natural Australian hardwood — a genuine 3mm timber veneer over a stable engineered core, capturing the natural grain of real Australian timber. As real wood it can be sanded back once over the years, and it lays with a 5G click system for a straightforward install. 14mm boards, 1.98 m² per box, backed by a 25-year residential warranty.

Spotted gum, blackbutt, blue gum and grey ironbark are the species Australian homes were built on, and this range puts a 3mm veneer of the real timber on a stable 14mm engineered board. You get the colour movement and the hardness of our native species, with boards that stay flat through humid summers and air conditioned winters.
The 5G click join means these floors float like a hybrid, no glue and no nails, which is rare for genuine hardwood. Board lengths run from 1.8 to 2.1 metres with a small share of random shorts in each box, so the floor lays the way a hardwood floor should, with the joints scattered rather than lined up.

A 14mm board with a 3mm veneer of genuine Australian hardwood, 136mm wide, in lengths from 1.8 to 2.1 metres. The 5G click join is the clever part: real native timber that floats over a 2mm foam underlay with no glue and no nails, which keeps it within reach of a confident DIYer. UV lacquered at the factory, so there is no coating to do on site.
With the underlay it carries a 5 star AAAC acoustic rating and a P2 slip rating. Eight boards cover 1.98m², with a small share of random short boards in each box for a natural lay. Choose this range when nothing but the real Australian species will do.
Where Australian hardwood works best.+
Living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms and hallways, especially in Queenslanders, Federation homes and anything where a native timber floor is the finish the house deserves. Spotted gum and ironbark are among the hardest timbers in the world, so these floors take furniture, dogs and decades of foot traffic.
Like all timber, keep it out of wet areas and give it a rug or a blind where sun hits the same spot all day, because natural timber will mellow and darken in direct light.
Laying it and looking after it.+
These boards click together and float over a 2mm foam underlay, so the method is close to hybrid: acclimatise for 48 hours, flat and dry subfloor, expansion gaps at the walls, stagger the joins. Mix boards from several boxes as you go so the natural colour variation spreads evenly across the room. Our timber installation guide comes with every order.
Sweep or vacuum grit, damp mop with a timber cleaner, no wet mopping and no steam. Felt pads under furniture. The 3mm hardwood veneer can be sanded and recoated when the time comes.
