About this floor.

European Oak brings a soft, light-toned look to our hybrid range — a rigid stone-core (SPC) floor that's highly water resistant and clicks together as a floating floor, with the acoustic underlay already attached. A hard-wearing, low-fuss choice for kitchens, living areas and busy homes, laid straight over most existing surfaces. Each 6.5mm board covers 2.24 m² per box, backed by a 25-year residential warranty.

Flooring guide

Why choose hybrid flooring.+

Hybrid flooring is a rigid stone composite (SPC) board with a printed timber look on top and an acoustic underlay already stuck to the bottom. The core is what sets it apart from laminate: it does not swell when a glass of water sits on it overnight, and it will not warp through a Queensland summer. The planks click together as a floating floor over almost any flat surface, including tiles and old timber, so there is no glue, no nails and no ripping up what is already there.

That combination is why it has become the most ordered floor in Australia for renovations. It handles kitchens, laundries, living areas and kids, it goes down in a weekend, and because the underlay is built in it is also the floor most strata bodies accept for apartments. If you are weighing it against laminate or vinyl plank, the comparisons below cover the differences honestly.

Why choose the 6.5mm hybrid range.+

The 6.5mm range is our most ordered floor, and the reason is value without compromise. A 5mm stone composite core with a 1.5mm acoustic underlay attached, a 0.5mm UV coated wear layer, a P3 slip rating and a 4 star AAAC acoustic result that most body corporates accept. Planks are 1540 by 182mm, a size that suits bedrooms and standard rooms and keeps waste low. Eight boards cover 2.24m² and a box weighs 23kg, light enough to carry upstairs alone.

Pick 6.5mm when you want the broadest colour range at the sharpest price per square metre and the rooms are a normal size. Step up to 9.5mm if you want wider, longer boards for a big open plan space, a 5 star acoustic rating for a strict strata, or a thicker board to bridge an older subfloor.

Where hybrid flooring works best.+

Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, kitchens and laundries are all home ground for hybrid. The water resistant core shrugs off spills and mopping, the UV coated surface takes claws and chair legs, and the attached underlay keeps footfall quiet on the floor below. It is the floor we recommend first for rental properties and family homes because it looks like timber at a fraction of the upkeep.

Two places we do not put it: bathrooms and other wet areas, where a floating floor can let water reach the subfloor through the joins, and anywhere with a badly uneven slab, which needs levelling first. For a wet area, look at our glue down vinyl instead.

Laying it and looking after it.+

Hybrid is the most DIY friendly floor we sell. Acclimatise the boxes in the room for 48 hours, check the subfloor is flat to 3mm over 2 metres, leave a 10mm expansion gap at every wall, then click the planks together row by row, staggering the joins. A jigsaw or a hand saw handles the cuts, and scotia or skirting covers the gap. Most people lay a bedroom in an afternoon and a whole living area in a weekend.

Care is a dry microfibre mop for grit and a damp mop with a pH neutral cleaner for the rest. No steam mops, no wax, no polish. Felt pads under furniture and a mat at the door are the two habits that keep the surface looking new for years.
