About this floor.

Coral Sand is a soft, light-toned engineered timber. A genuine 3mm hardwood veneer sits over a stable multi-ply core — real timber underfoot with far less movement than a solid board, and a surface you can sand back and refinish once down the track. 15mm boards join with a tongue-and-groove system, 2.88 m² per box, backed by a 25-year residential warranty.

Flooring guide

Why choose engineered timber flooring.+

Engineered timber is real wood on top, a 3mm veneer of oak or Australian hardwood, bonded to a stable engineered core that does not cup or shrink the way solid boards can. You get the grain, the feel and the smell of timber, with a 15mm board that can be sanded and refinished later in life, which no hybrid or laminate can offer.

It is the floor to choose when the room is the point: a living area you want to feel warm and expensive, a home you plan to stay in, a renovation where resale matters. It costs more per square metre than hybrid and it asks a little more of you in laying and care, and in return it is the one floor that genuinely adds to a property's value.

Why choose the 15mm engineered plank range.+

These are 1900 by 190mm planks, 15mm thick with a 3mm real oak veneer and a brushed UV lacquer finish that shows the grain rather than hiding it under gloss. Long, wide boards are what make a timber floor look expensive, and at this size a living room needs very few joins. Eight boards cover 2.88m².

With a 2mm foam underlay the range carries a 5 star AAAC acoustic rating and a P3 slip rating. Choose the planks when the room is large and you want the calm, continuous look. Choose herringbone or chevron from the same oak when you want the floor itself to be the feature.

Where engineered timber works best.+

Living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways and home offices. It is at its best in the rooms you spend the most time in and show to guests. With a 2mm foam underlay the plank ranges carry a 5 star AAAC acoustic rating, so they are also a serious option for apartments where the body corporate wants a real timber look.

It is a natural product, so keep it out of bathrooms and laundries, away from standing water and out of direct, all day sun without a rug or blind. Kitchens are fine with normal care.

Laying it and looking after it.+

Tongue and groove boards can be floated over an underlay, glued down to a flat slab, or secret nailed over a timber subfloor. Floating is the DIY route and the one most of our customers take. Acclimatise the boxes for at least 48 hours, check the subfloor is flat and dry, leave 10 to 15mm expansion gaps, and lay from the longest straight wall. Every plank order comes with our installation guide.

Care is simple: sweep or vacuum grit, damp mop with a timber floor cleaner, never wet mop, never steam. Felt pads under everything that moves. When it eventually shows its age, the 3mm veneer can be sanded and recoated.
